Strong start to the season in the Porsche Carrera Cup and podium finishes at the 24h Qualifiers

BLACK FALCON Porsche 992 GT3 Cup

BLACK FALCON achieved a strong team result at the season opener of the Porsche Carrera Cup Deutschland and laid the foundation for a successful season with a top five result and two wins in the Pro-Am classification. On the same weekend, the team from Meuspath contested the ADAC 24h Nürburgring Qualifiers on the Nordschleife. At the dress rehearsal for the season highlight, the 50th ADAC TotalEnergies 24h Nürburgring 2022 (May 26-29), the team secured two second places in the SP10 (GT4 cars) and CUP3 (Porsche Cayman GT4) classes in the second race on Sunday.

Porsche Carrera Cup Germany - Race 1 & 2 at Spa-Francorchamps
BLACK FALCON started successfully into the season at the first race weekend of the Porsche Carrera Cup Deutschland in Spa-Francorchamps. BLACK FALCON junior driver Loek Hartog (#4) showed a strong and composed performance in the first race of the season. Starting from position four, Hartog was able to match the pace of the front runners in the first laps and consolidate fourth place. In the closing stages of the 30-minute race, rivals put the youngster under enormous pressure from behind, but the Dutchman remained flawless and defended his fourth place to the finish. In the second race, the 19-year-old shone after a mixed start with strong lap times and several overtaking maneuvers. Up to the last lap Hartog, this time in the role of chaser, battled with compatriot Rudy van Buren, whom he overtook shortly before the finish line to secure sixth place.
In the ProAm standings, reigning ProAm champion Carlos Rivas (#6) dominated the action. In the first race of the season, the Luxembourger started from position one in the ProAm standings and celebrated his 40th ProAm victory in the German Carrera Cup after a strong performance. The starting position for the second race of the weekend was much more difficult: In qualifying Rivas was dropped a lap for disregarding the track limits, which is why he started the race in fifth place in class. After a sensational start, which catapulted him up to third place, Rivas fought his way into second place on the second lap and took the lead in the ProAm standings on lap three, which he did not relinquish until the end.
Team-mate Sören Spreng (#5), who returns to the Porsche Carrera Cup Deutschland this season after a break of several years, did well on his comeback. The ProAm driver from Hemer set the fifth (race 1) and fourth (race 2) fastest times in class in qualifying. In the first race of the season on Friday afternoon, Spreng was faultless and secured his first championship points of the year with fourth place. His second race was characterized by exciting duels and many position changes. The final lap saw a showdown for third place on the podium, but the cars touched each other while trying to overtake and slid into the gravel. Spreng eventually finished seventh in the ProAm.
The second of eight events will already take place in two weeks from May 20 to 22 in Spielberg, Austria. At the Red Bull Ring, BLACK FALCON will also contest the third and fourth rounds of the ADAC GT4 Germany.

ADAC 24h Nürburgring Qualifiers
On the Nürburgring-Nordschleife, the BLACK FALCON Team TEXTAR participated in the ADAC 24h Nürburgring Qualifiers, which were held for the first time this year in the form of two three-hour races. At the dress rehearsal for the 24h race at the end of May, the team relied on a Porsche Cayman GT4 RS Clubsport (#85) in the SP10 class as well as a Porsche Cayman GT4 (#260) in the Porsche Cayman Cup CUP3 class, which was strongly contested with eleven cars. In the first race, which started on Saturday evening and led into darkness, Marco Müller, Carsten Palluth and Tobias Wahl took fourth place in the SP10 class with the Cayman GT4 RS. Their teammates Martin Meenen and Reinhold Renger shared the CUP3 Cayman GT4 with double starter Tobias Wahl at the 24h Qualifiers and finished in sixth position on Saturday.
In the run-up to the second race, a special highlight was on the agenda on Sunday morning: in Top Qualifying, all the cars were sent out onto the track one after the other for two flying laps, completing two laps in optimum conditions. The two BLACK FALCON Cayman GT4s qualified for second place on the grid in the SP10 class and seventh in the CUP3. In the race, Müller, Palluth and Wahl defended their second place on the grid and secured second place in the SP10 class thanks to a faultless performance. In the CUP3, Meenen, Renger and Wahl fought their way steadily forward over the course of the three-hour race distance and crossed the finish line in second place in their class as well after a strong performance.
