Carlos Rivas won both races in the amateur classification at the third Porsche Carrera Cup race weekend at the Nürburgring. After the first "Big Points" of the season, the Luxembourgian is now fourth in the amateur ranking. Tim Zimmermann showed a great race to catch up in Saturday's race and finished eleventh overall and second in the rookie classification after starting from position 19. Sören Spreng finished fourth in the amateur classification after a flawless Saturday race. On Sunday Spreng and Zimmerman didn't finish.

For Carlos Rivas, the weekend could hardly have gone better. As at the first two stops of the Carrera Cup at Oschersleben and on the Red Bull Ring, Rivas was one of the fastest amateur pilots from the first practice session. In the first race on Saturday he started from position three and fought his way to the lead in the first laps, which he did not give up until the end of the race - the first victory of the season for Carlos Rivas. On Sunday he took the lead in the first lap after starting from second place and secured his second victory with a flawless performance. "Many thanks to the whole team. Our plan worked out and we finally had no bad luck in the race. We'll fight again next weekend," says Rivas.

Rookie pilot Tim Zimmermann experienced a weekend of ups and downs. In qualifying the chosen tactic did not work out when the race control interrupted the session with the red flag due to a dangerous situation. In Saturday's race Zimmermann then showed a strong performance when he worked his way up from grid position 19 lap after lap and finally crossed the finish line as eleventh overall and third-best driver in the rookie classification. On Sunday, during the starting phase, he was involved in an accident through no fault of his own, in which the middle water cooler of the Porsche was damaged - the premature end of the race for the 21-year-old. "Someone spun in front of the vehicle in front of me, so that the car in front of me had to brake and a chain reaction occurred. I am very satisfied with our performance on saturday, despite a poor starting position we still achieved a good result".

Sören Spreng's weekend was similar to Zimmermann's. In qualifying, the 32-year-old deliberately avoided the second new set of tyres in order to save it for Sunday's race. Therefore the amateur pilot started from sixth place in the class on Saturday. In the race he then began a remarkable chase to catch up and overtook a total of 12 cars, including two class rivals, so that he finally finished fourth in the amateur classification. On Sunday morning he had to stop the car prematurely in the pits after a contact with the track barrier. "Saturday went pretty well for me. On Sunday I had contact with a stack of tyres and could not finish the race. Now I'm concentrating on the preparation for next weekend's races."

The next race weekend of the Porsche Carrera Cup Germany will already take place next weekend. Season races 7 and 8 will be held on an alternative variant of the Nürburgring GP circuit.
