BLACK FALCON with six cars at 24h Nürburgring

2018 05 10 24h

After a hectic April which yielded an overall victory, two class wins and a further four class podiums over three dramatic races, Team BLACK FALCON’s attention is now solely focussed on May’s Nürburgring 24 Hours. This iconic event, widely recognised as the toughest round-the-clock endurance marathon in the world, is the race that every team and driver wants to win. A trophy earned at the infamous ‘Green Hell’ puts you among the pantheon of the greats – this is a race where even finishing is considered an achievement – and it’s one that BLACK FALCON have already triumphed in twice, in 2013 and 2016.

This year’s 24 Hours features a stunning 150-car, mixed-class entry, headed up by an impressive 29 GT3 cars in the SP9 class. The team’s preparation for the 24 Hours could not have gone better. The elite crew of their #5 Mercedes-AMG GT3 delivered victory in the event’s prologue last month, the six-hour Qualifying Race, and the #64 Porsche also won the V6 class.

The #5 AMG crew will be going into the weekend on a high of confidence: together, Luca Stolz (Germany), Thomas Jäger (Germany), Jan Seyffarth (Germany) and Yelmer Buurman (Netherlands) represent an enormous quantity of experience and talent. The #4 AMG’s drivers, who finished an excellent second in VLN2, will also be right in the fight. Maro Engel (Germany), Manuel Metzger (Germany), Adam Christodoulou (United Kingdom) and Dirk Müller (Germany) are a fearsome combination: Maro, Manuel and Adam won the race in 2016. The third AMG, #6, features Nico Bastian (Germany), Hubert Haupt (Germany), Erik Johansson (Sweden) and Gabriele Piana (Italy); they’ll be looking to be in thick of the fight.

BLACK FALCON is represented in the hotly contested SP10 class for GT4 machinery by the #66 Mercedes-AMG GT4, which will be driven by Carlos Gomez (USA), Stefan Karg (Germany), Fidel Leib (Germany) and Kim-Luis Schramm (Germany).

Two Porsche entries will run under the BLACK FALCON Team TMD Friction banner. In SP7, Jürgen Bleul (Germany), Moritz Oberheim (Germany), ‘Takis’ (Switzerland) and Tim Zimmermann (Germany) make up the driver squad for the #64 Porsche 991 GT3 Cup MRII, while Stephan Köhler (Germany), Axel König (Germany), Alexander Böhm (Germany) and Norbert Schneider (Germany) are on the roster for the V6-class #138 Porsche 991 Carrera.

This year, BLACK FALCON have a fantastic chance of adding a third win to their already impressive tally. The cars are fast, the team is ready. There will be live timing of all key sessions and live streaming of the race available at www.24h-rennen.de and English-language radio commentary at radiolemans.com.
