At the eighth leg of VLN endurance championship only two Porsche Cayman of BLACK FALCON Team TMD Friction crossed the finish line. Three out of five BLACK FALCON cars had to be retired in great looking positions after accidents.

In the highly competitive division featuring Porsche Cayman GT4 Clubsport cars Fidel Leib and Aurel Schoeller took on competition for BLACK FALCON Team TMD Friction (number 943). While the duo had to accept 8th position out of 12 after the qualifying took place for their starting position the drivers worked their way up to 5th place in CUP3 – 28th overall marked the best BLACK FALCON finish at the 48. ADAC Barbarossapreis.

The Porsche Cayman (number 448) driven by Axel König, Ronny Lethmate and Mark Wallenwein finished the race in 5th position of their division (V5) as well. This result secured Lethmate and Wallenwein a Nordschleife-Permit-A, that allows their owners to race faster cars at the Ring in the future. In contrast König did his first race in the VLN endurance championship.

“We´re really happy about the good performance of our Porsche Caymans. Aurel Schoeller and Fidel Leib adjust to the highly competitive CUP3-division race by race and keep getting faster. With the V5-entered Porsche Cayman once again two drivers got their Nordschleife-Permit-A and additionally it set off Axel König on his way to the license. These positive results will fund the base for the upcoming races”, team principal Alexander Böhm explained.

The weekend did not go as well for Gerwin, Adam Christodoulou and Manuel Metzger in Mercedes-AMG GT3 (number 6). Shortly after the half-time-mark had passed the car crashed leading the race and had to be retired. The Porsche 911 GT3 Cup (number 57) of Jürgen Bleul, Takis and Stuart Leonard had to stop after a small contact with the barrier three hours into the race – the air cooler was damaged and prohibited a continuing. Eventually the Geutebrück-Porsche 911 GT3 Cup BF (number 56) of Tim Scheerbarth and Alexander Toril had to be retired as well. Half an hour before the checkered flag the duo seemed to be in a great position to score the fifth victory out of eight races. Unfortunately, when Toril tried to overtake the class leader, the cars touched and Toril crashed into the guardrail ending all hopes for the victory.

The penultimate round of VLN long distance championship will take place in two weeks time on October 8th. The ninth leg will be over the distance of four hours. BLACK FALCON will be back on the Nordschleife next weekend for the next round of RCN.
