VLN10: Sensational victory at the close of the season!

Headervln10First overall victory of a Porsche 991 at the VLN

The season finale of the VLN endurance championship at the Nürburgring saw the Black Falcon team in a convincing winning mood despite dense fog cover and some shifts in the timetable: After the victory of the SLS AMG GT3 at the 9th round two weeks ago, Black Falcon was the first team ever to achieve overall victories with vehicles of two different manufacturers in two successive VLN races.

As in earlier races, the race drivers of the Porsche 911 Carrera, Aurel Schoeller, Sören Spreng and Daniel Schwerfeld showed a consistently flawless performance with consistently good lap times. With a final second place in the Porsche 991 Carrera with starting number 396 in the V6 class, the trio once again confirmed its superb driving potential. In the second Porsche 911 Carrera in the V6 class, with starting number 395, “Philip” and Miguel Toril also provided an outstanding, error-free driving performance, just like all the others in the team. Over the entire race distance the team was able to keep up with the head of the field and thus to secure third place in the V6 class. Due to the ongoing protest of an opposing team against the winner, the award ceremony in the V6 class was suspended. Should the protest be upheld, both Black Falcon vehicles in the class will improve by one position, thus ending in first and second place respectively. So even after the end of the race, it's still quite exciting.

Again perfect – both in technical as well as driving terms – was the performance of the Porsche 911 GT3 Cup in the H4 class with Jürgen Bleul, Carsten Knechtges and Tobias Nell. For the start number 600 this was the eighth victory in a row this season, letting the seasoned race drivers set new standards.

The Porsche 981 Cayman driven by "Jens", "Max" and Vincent Kolb enabled "Jens“ and "Max“ to complete their Level A Nordschleife permit so that they are now well prepared for the new challenges that await them next season. The start number 460 finished the race in a good fourth place in the particularly competitive V5 class that included nine new vehicles. However, a truly phenomenal result was achieved by “Gerwin“, Manuel Metzger und Philipp Engowever, who started from eighth position in the Porsche "991 Cup BF". The three drivers drove the most consistent lap times of the total field in the Porsche CUP vehicle optimized by Black Falcon and were still in the lead after the second and final pit stop. As the race then had to be abandoned due to the slippery track and emergence of fog, the victory of the first Porsche 991 model in the VLN was in the bag.

“The entire team is very happy about the outstanding results and feels rewarded for the hard work of the past months. With five vehicles that started, crowned by the phenomenal overall victory of the Porsche 911 GT3 Cup, Black Falcon has again underlined its potential when it comes to technical and driving performance”, explained Team Head Alexander Böhm after the race. “The performances of all drivers were simply exceptional today. And on top of that came the phenomenal overall victory. The crowning conclusion of an eventful VLN season 2015. We’ve really got a reason to celebrate today. And one thing is certain: That is exactly what we’re going to do!“ concluded the visibly delighted Team Manager Susanne Roth.
