Nürburgring Endurance Series Round 3 - Race Report

At the third round of the Nürburgring Endurance Series (NLS), BLACK FALCON Team TEXTAR celebrated its second double victory in a row in the SP8T class. The number 140 Mercedes-AMG GT4 secured first place, while the number 141 sister car crossed the finish line in second position. In the fiercely contested SP10 class, the Porsche 718 GT4 MR (#161) finished the 62nd EIBACH ADAC ACAS Cup in fifth place. The Porsche 911 GT3 Cup MR SP-PRO (#350) of the BLACK FALCON Team IDENTICA was set back a considerable time by an early barrier contact. The Porsche 911 GT3 Cup MR, which had started in the SP7 class, retired after an accident during the race.

BLACK FALCON Team IDENTICA
The Porsche 911 GT3 Cup MR SP-PRO of BLACK FALCON Team IDENTICA was driven as usual by regular drivers Noah Nagelsdiek, Florian Naumann and Hendrik von Danwitz at the third NLS round. In a chaotic qualifying, which was interrupted twice by the red flag, the trio left several of the significantly more powerful GT3 cars behind. An accident in the starting phase of the race caused a longer pit stop. The mechanics were able to replace the heavily damaged front end, but the loss of time was too great to be able to return to the competition. With no chance of a top result, the team used the remaining race distance to prepare for the 24-hour race.

BLACK FALCON Team TEXTAR
The BLACK FALCON Team TEXTAR started with four cars at the third NLS round. In the SP8T class Mustafa Mehmet Kaya, Gabriele Piana and Mike Stursberg secured their second win of the season with their Mercedes-AMG GT4 (#140). The trio took pole position in class during qualifying and celebrated a well-deserved start-finish victory after a flawless performance. The sister car, the Mercedes-AMG GT4 (#141) of Marco Müller, Stephan Rösler and Ersin Yücesan, finished second in class after a perfect performance, thus completing the second double victory in a row.
As usual, the Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 MR competed in the SP10 class for vehicles according to the SRO GT4 regulations, which was strongly contested with 10 vehicles. "Iceman" and Tobias Wahl took turns at the wheel of the TEXTAR-coloured Cayman. Despite a time penalty through no fault of their own, the duo crossed the finish line in fifth place in the class after four hours of racing. The Porsche 911 GT3 Cup MR (#57) of Paul Harkema and Niels Langeveld failed to finish after an unsuccessful overtaking manoeuvre and subsequent contact with the barriers. Until the retirement, the fast Dutchmen had been leading the SP7 class.

Timo Frings, Head of Motorsport BLACK FALCON:
"Of course we are very happy about the repeated victory in the class SP8T, nevertheless we had clearly planned more for the 3rd round of the NLS. The drivers of the two Porsche 911 GT3 Cup MR cars were all on a very high level during the test on Friday,. With the IDENTICA car we even set a new lap record for this model with 8:09 min! Unfortunately, we didn't have the necessary race luck with the two cars on Saturday - and even in the SP10 class, the drivers were better than the race result. But we are now focusing on the future and are looking forward to the 24h qualifying race next weekend, which is the perfect preparation for the season highlight, the 24h race at the beginning of June."
