Black Falcon highly motivated ahead of the third Carrera Cup weekend

2017 06 07 slider

During the upcoming weekend, Black Falcon will be competing in the third round of the Porsche Carrera Cup Germany. The championship races number five and six take place on the Red Bull Ring in Austria. As usual, Gabriele Piana (IT), Christian Engelhart (DE) and Carlos Rivas (LU) will be behind the wheels of the three Black Falcon Porsche 911 GT3 Cup cars.

After the sensational first Carrera Cup win for Black Falcon at the Lausitzring three weeks ago, the team from Meuspath is leaving to Austria with a very good momentum. The 2011 reopened Formula 1 circuit in the Steiermark area is 4.326 kilometres long, therefore the 25 minute race on Saturday will last 14 laps while the Sunday race will end after 35 minutes and 19 laps.

Start number 4 – Gabriele Piana – RN Vision Team Black Falcon
Gabriele Piana is 8th in the championship after four races. The 30-year-old Carrera-Cup-Rookie adapted quickly to the hectic one-make-cup and now glances up to a top 5 position after the promising first two weekends. “After two promising races at the Lausitzring, a top 5 result is the next step I want to achieve, but we face an enormous challenge this weekend as some Porsche Supercup drivers join the grid as preparation for their own race. Therefore, a realistic target cannot be named beforehand.”

Star number 5 – Christian Engelhart – Black Falcon
During his first race weekend with Black Falcon, Christian Engelhart left a great impression: Pole position for both races followed by a second place on Saturday and the victory on Sunday at the Lausitzring. Last year, Engelhart won Saturday's Carrera Cup race at the Red Bull Ring, making him one of the hot favourites for a trophy this weekend. “The Red Bull Ring has always been a good location for me. I won my first GT race on this track and last year I won a Carrera Cup race there. I want to repeat this result with Black Falcon. The whole team is highly motivated and we are looking forward to the challenge.”

Start number 4 – Carlos Rivas – Black Falcon
After four out of 14 championship races, Carlos Rivas is second in the Porsche Carrera Cup Germany amateur cup standings. The Luxembourgian celebrated his first win at Lausitzring’s Sunday race after already enjoying a champagne shower on the podium for his second place on Saturday. For the Red Bull Ring the goal is clear: Finish both races without scratches and keep or reduce the gap to the championship leader. The 40-year-old entrepreneur is looking forward to the circuit set in the middle of the alpine mountains: “After the great results of the first two race weekends, my anticipation for the Red Bull Ring is high. I know the track from former races and its great up and down profile is a nice alternation to the flat tracks of Hockenheim and Lausitzring. We’re well prepared for the race.”
